Resi/Dance
Originally funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, ‘Resi/Dance’ is an ongoing programme of work which sees DUY embedded as a dance company on the Holme Wood estate in Bradford. As a community who often find themselves invisible, defined by difficult circumstances and written off, Holme Wood residents will participate in an artistically ambitious and accessible cross-community and intergenerational dance programme, punctuated by a series of professionally staged performances. ‘Resi/dance’ offers an invigorating model of creative partnership to all of its residents: combining DUY’s specialist participatory training, the energy and aspirations of the Holme Wood community and the creative expertise of Dance United Yorkshire.
DUY are currently running the following regular classes at the TFD Centre in Holme Wood:
Resi/Dance Launch: 5-8yrs Thursdays 4.15– 5.00pm
Resi/Dance Rise: 9-12yrs Thursdays 5.00 – 6.00pm
Resi/Dance Youth Dance Company: 13+yrs Thursdays 6.00 – 7:30pm

“The Holme Wood, Dance United Project has brought a sense of community and togetherness to the estate. It has given the kids the opportunity to do something fun and allow for healthy expression. It has also allowed them to develop social skills. It has given me the opportunity to get fitter and make new friends whilst building my own confidence and self-esteem.”
